Ethical Tourism

Modern Slavery &
Human Trafficking Policy

Our Commitment to Dignity, Freedom, and Ethical Tourism.

Effective Date: 1 July 2025
Review Cycle: Annual
Status: Ratified

1. Our Statement of Commitment

"Travel should be a force for freedom — never a vehicle for exploitation. At Thea Mondial Travel, zero tolerance for modern slavery is not a compliance exercise. It is a reflection of who we are."

Thea Mondial Travel is unconditionally opposed to modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour, and child labour in all their forms. This policy sets out our commitments, the steps we take to identify and prevent exploitation across our operations and supply chain, and the mechanisms through which we hold ourselves and our partners accountable.

2. Legal & Regulatory Framework

This policy is informed by and aligned with the Republic of Uganda Prevention of Trafficking in Persons Act (2009), the UK Modern Slavery Act (2015), and International Labour Organization (ILO) Conventions. We adopt these standards voluntarily because they reflect our values as a woman-led organization.

3. Scope of Policy

Modern slavery is an umbrella term covering:

  • Human trafficking: recruitment or transport of persons via threat or deception for exploitation.
  • Forced labour: services extracted under threat where the person has not offered themselves voluntarily.
  • Child labour: employment of children below legal age or in hazardous conditions.
  • Sexual exploitation: zero tolerance for sex tourism or solicitation in any part of our itineraries.

4. Risk Management in Tourism

Tourism supply chains can carry risks of informal labour and child engagement. We manage these through:

Own Operations

Written contracts, living wages, no recruitment fees, and a 100% policy against document retention.

Supply Chain

Mandatory pre-screening, anti-slavery contractual clauses, and periodic on-ground property assessments.

5. Reporting & Transparency

Anyone who suspects exploitation in connection with our operations is encouraged to report it immediately.
